Sara Mayfield (September 10, 1905 - January 10, 1979) was an American journalist and author. She studied at University of Paris, 1926; University of Chicago, 1927; A.B., Goucher College, 1928; M.A., University of Alabama, 1938; graduate work, Tulane University, 1943. She was employed as a play reader, casting director in New York City, 1931-32 and Rockland County Theater, 1932, She was a special correspondent, Baltimore Sun, 1928-29; Paris Herald, 1929; New York Herald Tribune, 1931; Transradio Press, 1938-45; Birmingham News, 1945-46. She was an assistant editor, University of Alabama Press, 1967-69 and contributing editor, 1969-72. She was the author of The Constant Circle; H.L. Mencken and His Friends (1968), Exiles from Paradise; Zelda and Scott Fitzgerald (1971) and Mona Lisa, the Woman in the Portrait; a Fictional Biography, (1974).
