Umm Qays, known as Gadara in ancient times, was one of the Decapolis cities. A nearby hot spring made Gadara a favorite spa in the Roman Empire. This image shows Gadara's main street (Decumanus Maximus), the central axis of the Roman city, leading up to the acropolis (upper left corner).
