The spacecraft containing Gemini 12 astronauts James Lovell and Edwin Aldrin splashed down in the Atlantic Ocean at 2:21 p.m. EST, November 15, 1966, following their 94.5 hour Earth orbital flight. The space pilots impacted more than 600 miles east of Cape Kennedy, about three miles from the prime recovery ship, the USS Wasp, following their flawless automatic reentry. Lovell and Aldrin performed a number of scientific and technological experiments, and Aldrin conducted three extravehicular activities. This was the last flight in NASA's Gemini program.
