A photochrom print of old Cairo, Egypt, looking towards the Saladin Citadel on Mokattam Hill in January, 1906. This image was made by French industrialist Paul Fleury. Photochrom (also called the A瓣c process) prints are colorized images produced from black-and-white photographic negatives via the direct photographic transfer of a negative onto lithographic printing plates. The process is a photographic variant of chromolithography, a broader term that refers to color lithography in general. Saladin Citadel is a medieval Islamic fortification. The location, on Mokattam Hill near the center of Cairo, was once famous for its fresh breeze and grand views of the city. It is now a preserved historic site, with mosques and museums.
