Mirabella Fortress (Peovica) is above Omis, Croatia (behind and beyond the old building in the foreground). It is Romanesque style, 13th century, a hideout for pirates who retreated to the safety of the Cetina River gorge. Omis is a city and port on the Adriatic Sea in the Dalmatia region of Croatia, 16 miles south of Split.
