A statue in Old Town Square (Starometske namesti). Jan Hus was a religious thinker, philosopher, reformer, and free thinker. He was executed by being burned at the stake, as a heretic by the Catholic church. His death inspired the Protestant movement in Europe. He is a national hero in the Czech Republic, and is considered a martyr for freedom of expression.
