Excavation site with tracks of Sauropods (colored black) on the Plateau of Courtedoux-Chevenez, in the canton (state) of Jura, Switzerland. Since 2003 the plateau has developed into a Mecca of palaeontology. Four exacvation sites have revealed footprints and tracks of sauropods from 150 million years ago. Palaeontologists expect more than 10,000 footprints and at least 800 tracks (a track is defined by at least 3 footprints of the same dinosaur). Such a density is unique world-wide. The palaeontologists and state authorities contemplate a Jurassic Park and will submit the discoveries as a World Heritage site.
