The Rheinau peninsula, located in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland, is created by a loop of the Rhine River. It was settled in celtic times (Hallstattzeit, 750-450 BC). The Benedictine monastery, founded 778 AD, stands on a separate small island. Today, it is used as a psychiatric clinic.
