Farm in the Atacama desert, Chile, located in a Quebrada de Camina. Quebradas are the transversal valleys draining the water of the high Andes (produced by snow melt and rain fall) across the Atacama (the world's driest desert) towards the Pacific. Village canal systems irrigate plots of beans, maize and alfalfa. Villagers raise small herds of sheep and goats for milk, cheese and wool - the region's main export and source of cash.
