Typhoon Maysak strengthened into a super typhoon on March 31, 2015, reaching Category 5 hurricane status on the Saffir-Simpson Wind Scale. This image was taken from the International Space Station as the weather system moved to the west-northwest past Yap in the Northwestern Pacific islands of Micronesia. Hurricane-force winds extended 40 nautical miles from the center, and tropical storm-force winds extended 100 nautical miles from the center.
