Snowy Owl, Nyctea scandiaca, on a coastal Connecticut beach in December. This owl has a large amount of sludge on it from hunting in the saltmarsh and was later that day taken into rehab and released. It was photographed during the 2013/2014 winter irruption into the northeastern US.
