Vanadinite, lead chlorovanadate, is a spectacular but uncommon bright red mineral that occurs in extremely fine crystals in several localities. The mineral is always some shade of red, brownish red or yellowish-brown, and it occurs in the alteration zone around lead deposits. Several notable localities are in Arizona, but perhaps the best known is in Morocco at Mibladen. Specimens from this locality are featured in museum collections throughout the world.
