Cerussite, lead carbonate, is remarkable for its very high specific gravity (sometimes called density, or weight compared to water). Cerussite is also popular with collectors because of its excellent crystals. A very distinctive characteristic of cerussite is its tendency to form so-called reticulated crystal intergrowths, appearing as a latticework of twinned intergrown crystals in a typical hexagonal pattern. The tintic District of Utah and Tsumeb, Namibia (South West Africa) are the best known localities for cerussite displaying this unique crystallization.
