Fire boats combat a blaze on the Mega Borg, a Norwegian oil tanker, in the Gulf of Mexico, 57 miles south-southeast of Galveston, Texas, 1990. The Mega Borg was unloading crude oil onto another tanker when lightering operations caused explosions in the pump room. Between 3 and 5 million gallons of oil were released, or about 2,000 tons.
