Ammonite fossil (Psiloceras planorbis), crushed flat on a shale bedding plane. The original shell is preserved, including the fine, wavy ribs near the aperture. Psiloceras is the oldest zone fossil from the Lower Jurassic Period, found in Europe, Indonesia and the Americas. It grew to about 70 mm in diameter.
