The Humpback Golden-line Barbel (Sinocyclocheilus cyphotergous) is one of the least commonly encountered fishes in the world. The fish inhabits a subterranean river system in Guizhou, China. The mysterious structure on its dorsal surface remains a mystery to science but close relatives that only inhabit caves often have a large bump or a protuberance on the forehead. This individual was photographed in Guizhou, China, in June 2017.
