These clusters of rice grains were found in 8-kg retail bags of rice. They contained a small insect larva inside and thus were built by it for its protection. The clusters somewhat resembled the cases built by caddisfly larvae in water but they were dry and disproportionately large compared to the larva size; they were not assembled to cover the body of the small larva. The clusters were sturdy and would not disintegrate when handled.
