Common Slipper Snails (Crepidula fornicata), barnacles and various algae growing on a bottle off Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Slipper snails can change their sex. The bottom snail begins as a male and changes into a female when another male attaches to the top of its shell. When a 3rd snail (male) attaches to the 2nd male, it causes the 2nd male to be both sexes.
