Banded Sexton Beetle (Nicrophorus investigator) in Bitterroot National Forest, Southwest Montana. These beetles seek out small, dead animals which they then bury and lay their eggs upon. Both male and female parents remain nearby to nurture their young. Parental care is quite rare among insects, but burying beetles are remarkable exceptions.
