Discoveries of new species of aquatic cave snails are are not uncommon in North America. Because they are so small and difficult to spot, many species have evaded detection. Often times, they are specific to partiular microhabitats within cave systems and therefore are localized within a cave. These snails typically have lost visual structures, have little pigment, and are very small, less than 1 or 2 milimeters in total length. This species was recently discovered in Oklahoma's Ozarks.
