The Yellow-spotted River Turtle, Podocnemis unifilis, is considered vulnerable "VU" by the IUCN and is listed on CITES appendix II. Over harvest of eggs and turtles has led to a decline across this species range, which constitutes the Amazon Basin. Photographed in Amazonian Peru, 2012.
