The Carabaya Robber Frog, Pristimantis ockendeni, used to be a common encounter on night hikes in the upper Amazon Basin. This species develops entirely inside of their eggs, with small miniatures of the adults hatching out from the pea sized structures. For reasons not yet understood, their numbers are dwindling. This species was photographed in Amazonian Peru in 2010.
