The Marble Hatchetfish, Carnegiella strigata, swims in schools at the surface of the water. They typically feed on small insects that hit the surface. The species is native to the Amazon River and its tributaries. These fish are often exported for the aquarium trade. This specimen was photographed in the Peruvian Amazon 2010.
