Klipspringer Antelope (Oreotragus oreotragus) Klipspringer is Afrikaans for "rock jumper". They are very small, under 2 feet at the shoulder; with a dense, hard thick coat. Unlike other antelope, they have the ability to climb up nearly vertical rocky slopes. They have blunt, rubbery, nearly skid-proof hooves. They give the appearance of walking on their toes tips. It is the only horned ungulate. The male has very small, less than 4 inches, soft horns that are smaller than it's ears. Unlike most antelope, they mate for life. Rang: Eastern to southern Africa, from Abyssinia, to the Cape regions. Jacksonville Zoo, Fl.
