Golden toads (Bufo periglenes) in amplexus in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, Costa Rica, in March, 1984. The only known range of the golden toad was a few kilometers along the crest of the continental divide in Monteverde. No toad has been seen there since 1989.
