Olive Python (Liasis olivaceus). This large Australian endemic python grows to a length of almost 6.5 metres, though the normal maximum length is around 5 metres. It occurs in the tropical northern part of Australia from Western Australia, through the Northern territory to western Queensland. It generally lives in arid, rocky regions, though is commonly found in the vicinity of watercourse in these areas. It feeds principally on mammals, adult snakes taking prey as large as wallabies and small kangaroos. Like all pythons it is non-venomous. The snake in this picture is from Mt. Isa in western Queensland, Australia.
