Tommy roundhead Dragon (Diporiphora australis). This small dragon lizard is found in tropical and sub-tropical north-eastern Australia. It grows to around 6 cms snout to vent length, with a tail length of around 12 cms. It lives in dry wooded and cleared areas such as farmlands. It is largely arboreal, though it does forage on the ground. It commonly perches on fenceposts and low branches to scan its surroundings for its insect prey. It is very agile and swift-moving, though with care it can be approached closely. Photographed at Koah, Queensland, tropical northern Australia.
