White Flower Spider or Crab Spider (Thomisus spectabilis). These are small spiders with a leg span of about 2 cm. They occur Australia-wide and are free-roving, not web builders. Typically they perch on white or pale flowers, waiting for their insect prey. The spider in this photograph has caught a Horsefly (Cydistomyia doddi) larger than itself. Mt Carbine, North Queensland, Australia.
