Magpie Geese, (Anseranas semipalmata). This is a large pied goose of the tropical wetlands of northern Australia. It grows to around 90cms in length and often occurs in large flocks of several thousand birds. It forages in shallow water and also in fields and pastures. Pairs of geese mate for life, but a male may have two females.
