This deeper water jellyfish, Ptychogena, feeds on copepods and perhaps even sergestid shrimp. They have been found in the Monterey Bay area from depths of 50 to 1187 meters. This individual was trawled to the surface in Monterey, California and subsequently photographed in 2007.
