Chiasmodon niger, a great swallower of the family Chiasmodontidae, can eat fish as large as themselves or even larger. They have stomachs that can accommodate massive prey items. This individual was captured in a trawl between 1000 and 1500 meters depth in the Gulf of Mexico, 2007.
