Emerald Swallowtail, Papilio palinurus. "Tropical" a.k.a. Emerald Peacock, Green-banded Peacock, Swallowtail or Green Moss Peacock. Threatened in Malaysia and a member of the Papilion family. It has a wingspan of approximately 3-3 1/2 inches (9-10cm). It can be found in Neomalaya (i.e. the Malay Peninsula, Sumatro, Borneo and their satellite islands), Palawan and the Philippines. Its main habitat is primary forest and the larval host plants are from the Rutaceae family. It's a very nervous butterfly that will rarely rest, so it takes luck or patience to get a good picture.
