Western Lowland Gorilla (Gorilla gorilla gorilla) knuckle-walking. The gorilla's hand is human-like with fingers and fingernails; when they walk on their forelimbs they bear their weight on their knuckles. Herbivores native to Western Africa, gorillas are the largest of the primates. They share 97-98% of their DNA sequences with humans. They are our next closest relative after the chimpanzee. Congo exhibit at the Bronx Zoo, New York.
