A great egret (Casmerodius albus) juvenile in nest. This threatened species is often confused with the great white heron. The great egrets have black legs and feet, while the great white heron has light greenish-blue legs. The great white heron also has a much more restricted range: Southern Florida and the Caribbean area. The great egret is the symbol of the National Audubon Society. Photographed in Duval County, northeastern Florida, USA.
