Burrowing Parrot (Cyanoliseus patagonus) or Patagonian conure, also known as "Barranquero". Photographed in Province Rio Negro, Patagonia, Argentina. Flock of burrowing parrots over a field, inland from the major nesting colony of Balneario El Condor. The destruction of the native Patagonian vegetation to make place for agriculture has forced the birds to search for food (seeds) in the cultivated areas. This in turn has put them in direct conflict with the farmers, who have been known to shoot and poison the parrots.
