A phonutria spider, Phoneutria spp., feeds on a cone-headed katydid. In spite of the fact that these katydids can give a painful bite, phonutria or "wandering spiders" are highly venomous and are aggressive predators of the rainforest understory. This predator/prey relationship was photographed on a night hike at the CICRA research center, Madre de Dios, Peru.
