The Brown Lipped Snail (Cepaea nemoralis) was introduced into the U.S. in 1857 by a British Malacologist, Dr. W. G. Rinney who released a number of them into his garden in New Jersey. The Brown Lipped Snail can be a nuisance to gardeners and has been reported as a pest in vineyards of upstate New York. It is also known as the Grove Snail, Tiger Snail, Striped Garden Snail, and Banded Wood Snail.
