Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa) in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada, during heavy snowstorm in January 2000. One of the more reclusive owls, they are primarily found in Alaska. These owls often perch near the edges of meadows or open areas where they hunt for mice. Heavy snows like this make hunting more difficult because the mice tunnel through the snow.
