Polyphemus moth (Antheraea polyphemus). The male is seen here, identifiable by its large, feathered antennae. These are used to locate the scent of a female mate. This common silk moth inhabits deciduous forests, wetlands and urban areas throughout much of North America. Photographed in Pennsylvania, USA.
