Woodcut engraving of an anatomy lecture at Padua. The professor remains in his chair reading from a book, while a demonstrator points out the progress of the dissection with a stick. The students take no active part in the dissection: this 'ignoble' task was carried out by a lower grade of employee. Dated 15th century.
