Tattershall Castle, Lincolnshire, 1951. Aerial view of the tower and moats. A rare example of a fortified medieval house, the brick tower was built between the 1430s and 1440s on the site of a 13th century castle. Lord Curzon of Kedleston famously saved it from destruction in 1911 and used it as a catalyst to force key heritage protection legislation through parliament in 1913.
