Started in 1296 based on Arnolfo di Cambio's design, but was not complete until 1436 when Filippo Brunelleschi engineered the dome. One of Italy's largest churches. The current fa蓷de was designed by Emilio De Fabris in 1871 and was completed in 1887. The original, incomplete fa蓷de was dismantled in 1588. The entire fa蓷de is dedicated to Christ's mother.
