'The Death of Pichegru', 1804, (1896). French general Jean-Charles Pichegru (1761-1804) was involved in a royalist conspiracy to remove Napoleon from power. Betrayed by a friend, Pichegru was arrested on 28 February 1804, and was later found strangled in prison. Engraving after the painting made c1870-1896 by Moreau De Tours.
