Engraving depicting a Bunsen cell, a zinc-carbon primary cell composed of a zinc anode in dilute sulphuric acid separated by a porous pot from a carbon cathode in nitric or chromic acid. Invented by Robert Bunsen (1811-1899) a German chemist. Dated 19th century.
