Portrait of the author; Major-General Sir Rober Rollo Gillespie. Sir Robert Rollo Gillespie (1766-1814) was an officer in the British army. In 1786 he was involved in a duel in which he killed the opposing duellist. The verdict was 鈥榡ustifiable homicide' and Gillespie was acquitted. He saw action during the French revolutionary wars and in India; where he was killed. He shouted; "One shot more for the honour of Down" while leading a charge.
