Hanuman is perplexed as to how he can speak to Sita; surrounded as she is by demon guardians. Perched in his tree; he begins to recite Rama's praises. Sita is at first confused by him and thinks he might be Rava?a in one of his disguises. But she is then comforted by Hanuman; when he reveals himself to her as Rama's messenger and gives her Rama's ring; and offers to take her with him back to Rama. Sita replies that she cannot allow herself to be rescued by him: to her husband alone belong that right and the glory of so doing.
