DONATELLO (1386 - December 13; 1466); nicknamed Donato di Niccol?by Betto Bardi; Italian sculptor; painter and goldsmith considered one of the three fathers of the Florentine Renaissance; with the painter Masaccio and the architect Brunelleschi. The portrait is enclosed in a frame decorated with caryatids holding the tools of art and an allegory of sculpture.
