RAIBL (TARVISIO) Pass of the Predil; At the time of the Italo-Yugoslavian border recovery; since 1991 the passage marks the border with the Republic of Slovenia; becoming independent. On the outer walls of the fortress stands the monumental pyramid with a lion lying; Austrian memorial of Napoleonic wars devoted to captain engineer Johann Hermann Von Hermannsdorf (November 30; 1781 - May 18; 1809). On the tombstone it reads: "In memory of the heroic death of former leader Iohann Hermann Von Hermannsdorf on May 18; MDCCCIX and his fellow fighters with him; the Emperor Ferdinand I."
