SACRIFICIO Pelicano with his pity. So the herd of pelican feeding her little ones is called in heraldry: the act of trampling the fish in the membranous sack by crushing them against the chest; then handing them to the chicks; is poetically interpreted as if it was plagued to make it shed The blood; and nourish it with that. The pelican thus becomes a symbol of piety; love and charity for the neighbor; of Christ pouring blood for the redemption of men. Heraldry is similar to a swan; with its slender body and long beak; without a bushy bag. Detail from the memorial to Savina Corneliani (see full in FSNgilardi_71559.jpg). High Relief of Antognazza; Church of St. Gall; Valdidentro (SO); 19th century
