MILAN Piazza Castello; the Filarete tower is the backdrop to the imposing fountain; which is affectionately called by the Milanese "The Wedding Cake". Built by the AMA in 1936; dismantled in the 1960s to allow the work of subway line 1 and no longer restored until the nineties; its "mysterious" disappearance fueled at that time the most imaginative explanations; including the supposed appropriation By a well-known Milanese politician who would have rebuilt her in a foreign property. Photo-engraving manually colored bianconero photography; Postcard; Milan 1956.
